Trade duplicate cards

It may be hard to play a difficult card, and it is even harder if you have got it twice. This rule allows you to trade duplicate cards in your hand with your opponents.

A card is considered to be a duplicate if you have got it in your hand, and have got another card also in your hand with the same face value and the same suit (or color). You cannot trade "duplicate" cards if one of them is on the table, or somewhere else not in your own hand.

You can only trade duplicate cards at the start of your turn, before you play anything else.

You can only trade duplicate cards with an opponent that also has duplicate cards, as indicated by a duplicate indicator. Note that the opponent may refuse to swap duplicate cards, even if a duplicate indicator is shown.

After you have traded your duplicate card, you may put the replacement card back onto your hand, or play it immediately on the table.

Games with this rule

In Easy Rummy, Accelleration and Windmill, you can trade duplicate cards.

In all other Rummy type games, including Tile Rummy, trading of duplicate cards is usually not allowed.
